History of The Hiding Place Ministry
Pastors Bill and Carolyn Daniel were called into Full Time Ministry in 1972. They attended Clear Creek Baptist College in Pineville, KY from 1972 through 1975, when they graduated. They are the parents of four sons: Will, David, John and Michael and an adopted daughter, Sierra. Many others refer to them as Mom and Papa, Grandma and Papa.
The Lord had put a special call on their lives to help the hurting and that has been their life’s passion. Besides pastoring small rural churches in Kentucky and small churches in the Chicago area, they were houseparents of an Emergency Shelter for Status Offenders in Maysville, Kentucky for two years, Mason Manor. They cared for over 200 children during that time as well as their own four sons.
In 1994, Bill and Carolyn felt the Lord leading them to relocate to the Branson Missouri area. They had no idea what the Lord had planned for them but they were obedient to the call. Through the following 6 years, the Lord established them in the community and in great churches in the city.
In July 2000, Carolyn was led by the Lord to take a mission trip to The Netherlands for two weeks. Shirley Lamb, a prayer partner from Tulsa, OK, travelled with her. Carolyn’s mom had just passed on June 8, 2000. O her mother’s birthday, July 13, 2000, while visiting Corrie ten Boom’s Hiding Place for the Jews during WWII in Haarlem, The Netherlands, the Lord called Carolyn to return to the United States and begin The Hiding Place Ministry in Branson, Missouri. She returned with a passion to reach out to hurting women and their children. Her husband, Bill, embraced the call and they began to work as a team as the Lord led them.
The Lord opened many doors for them to accomplish His Will. The beginning was a Women’s Conference in 2001. Then the opening of The Hiding Place Café, which provided food for the women and children they sheltered, and it became an Outreach Center. Many lives were changed during those three years and many are still in contact with the ministry.
In 2004, the 17,000 sq ft church building and parsonage in Forsyth were purchased for The Hiding Place MInisty and donated to the ministry. That gift provided the facility to shelter many women and children for the next 7 years. Over 1300 families were served during this season of the ministry.
In 2008, Papa Bill had such a burden for men who were hurting that a men’s ministry, Mountain Top Men’s Ministry, was birthed. For almost 4 years, many men’s lives were transformed by the Lord. When Papa Bill passed suddenly on Christmas Day 2009, The Hiding Place Ministry and our community was shaken. He had led worship and preached at The Hiding Place for 7 years. He had led many to the Lord, baptized many, performed several weddings as well as some funerals. He was so full of God’s Love and Mercy and blessed so many Hiding Place Children as well. As of November 10, 2011, the church is no longer being used as a shelter.
It is a new season in the Life of The Hiding Place Ministry. Carolyn is being led to relocate to the Orlando, Florida area this spring, 2012. The Lord has sent Pastors Denver and Joanie Buchanan from Texas to serve as Pastors of The Hiding Place Church. They will continue to love, to teach and reach the lost and hurting in our community as Pastors Bill and Carolyn Daniel have done for over 10 years.
Carolyn is seeking God’s plans for the ministry expansion in Florida. She will be focusing on her 8 ½ year old daughter and her disabled son, Will, however first. Please pray for her and her family as it is a time of New Beginnings.
